Thanks to Venstar ColorTouch Wi‑Fi Thermostats with Skyport Cloud Services

Climate control plays a critical role in protecting valuable Historical Artifacts

At the National Navy SEAL Museum in Fort Pierce, Florida, climate control plays a critical role in protecting valuable historical artifacts while ensuring a comfortable experience for guests. Opened on Veterans Day in 1985, the museum offers an immersive look into the history of the Navy SEALs, spanning from World War II to present day.

Frank Thiele, Facilities Manager for the National Navy SEAL Museum, needed a solution that would allow him to remotely monitor and manage HVAC systems throughout the facility while maintaining strict temperature controls for exhibit preservation.

Objectives

  • Maintain consistent indoor comfort for guests
  • Protect sensitive historical artifacts
  • Enable remote HVAC access via desktop and mobile
  • Program thermostats remotely
  • Receive alerts for temperature and humidity issues

Solution

Skyport Cloud Services and ColorTouch Wi‑Fi Thermostats

The museum deployed Venstar ColorTouch Wi‑Fi thermostats paired with Skyport Cloud Services to gain centralized control of HVAC systems. Using Skyport, facility staff can remotely view, manage, and adjust thermostat settings from anywhere using a desktop or mobile device.

Setpoint limiting ensures temperatures stay within predefined ranges, preventing overheating and maintaining ideal exhibit conditions. Skyport also provides automated alerts when temperatures fall outside acceptable parameters, allowing for quick response to potential system issues.

Results & Benefits

  • Remote access to all thermostats from a centralized platform
  • Improved artifact preservation through consistent temperature control
  • Faster response to HVAC issues via automated alerts
  • Reduced energy waste and improved efficiency
  • Peace of mind through constant system visibility
